Tips to Avoid the Exploding Vaporizer Battery

Exploding vaporizer batteries. I’m sure you have heard of it happening to someone – whether it was on the news, television, or it may have happened to someone you know. Though you may not hear about it happening often, the explosions can be dangerous and can cause serious damage to the user and those around it. The exact causes as to why a battery might explode varies, but recent studies suggest that some battery-related problems may lead to a battery malfunctioning and ultimately exploding.

According to a report conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (https://www.fda.gov/TobaccoProducts/Labeling/ProductsIngredientsComponents/ucm539362.htm), here are a few tips you can use to avoid the explosions:

1. Consider Using Vaporizer with Safety Features

Some oil vaporizer pens come equipped with firing button locks, vent holes, and protection against overcharging. It would be in the user’s best interest to look for vaporizer products with these features to better protect themselves against burns or explosions.

2. Keep Batteries in a Case

When your pen is not in use, the best place to keep it is in a case. Keep the battery away from all metal objects, such as coins and keys.

3. Do Not Mix Chargers

Only use the charger that came with the battery to charge it. Do not try to use a charger from another device, for this can cause the battery to overheat and eventually burst.

4. Do Not Leave a Charging Battery Unattended

Always know where and when your battery is charging. Do not not charge your battery overnight while you sleep. Also, avoid overcharging in order to avoid potential overheating.

5. Replace the Battery If It Gets Wet or Damaged

Do not try to re-use a battery after it has been damaged or in water. Your best option would be to get a completely new battery at this point.

Until more information is known on how and why batteries explode, the best protection you can have against these occurrences is to educate yourself as much as you can on the device and how to properly handle it. If your specific device did not come with any sort of manual or instructions on how to properly use your pen, contact the manufacturer directly. Don’t let yourself become the next victim of an exploding vape battery.
